Balneum, located on the waterfront at Gröndal Strand in central Stockholm, contains 134 apartments arranged along a steep slope to form a striking silhouette while minimizing its visual mass. The design addresses the nearby Essingeleden bridge’s noise and privacy challenges with a closed east facade of light-colored concrete modules, contrasting with open sides featuring generous glazing, warmer materials, and continuous balconies with custom railings. This balance of strength and softness gives Balneum a distinctive character on its dramatic site.
